27800 Old Dixie Highway, Homestead

Canero Group secured Miami-Dade County approval for a 54-unit townhouse project at 27800 Old Dixie Highway in Homestead. The firm had approval for up to 66 townhouses on the 2.7-acre site but chose to build 54 units, each about 1,900 square feet with three bedrooms, with pricing starting at $500,000. President Jose A. Canero described the target as local buyers priced out of Miami’s urban core. Edward Silva of E.S.A. Architects is designing the townhomes, with construction expected to begin early in the year following approval. Canero acquired the development site in 2023 for $537,500; Holland & Knight attorneys Juan Mayol and Oliver Wechsler represented the firm in the approval process.

The project is part of a wave of residential development in south Miami-Dade, alongside Canero’s 247-unit rental building in the works at 24735 South Dixie Highway in Princeton. The Naranja/Homestead area has attracted multiple townhouse and single-family projects, and the county’s approval underscored the viability of for-sale housing aimed at local, value-conscious buyers in the corridor.
